Protecting your hearing and that of your employees is very important to the success of a company, i.e. for safety, reduced down time due to injury from hearing related accidents and overall employee performance and career satisfaction. For our troops in combat - hearing loss is the No. 1 health issue. Considering similar noise levels in the workplace, i.e. manufacturing and R&D - hearing loss is a primary health issue.

For industry we recommend the non-electronic Insta-Mold Earplugs and Chameleon Ears, in both unfiltered and filtered configurations. Both earplug systems provide the user with the same level of hearing protection - an NRR of 30dB. Both earplugs are made of medical grade silicone, with the Chameleon Ears being made of the softer hydrophobic silicone for greater durability and flexibility, resulting in greater comfort. Both are superior in comfort and hearing protection to foam earplugs and most earmuffs. Either earplug can be fitted with filters to improve "situational awareness" (awareness of one's surroundings) and communications among employees on the shop floor or in the field. This translates into improved safety and job performance. Non-filtered Insta-Molds are made on site, and usually available the very same day (filtered earplugs require 24 hours). Chameleon Ears require impressions to be made on site for submission by PSS to E.A.R., Inc. The customer receives their Chameleons in approximately three weeks. Another major benefit of these two systems is the significant savings in a company's annual budget for its Hearing Protection Program. Multiple pairs of foam earplugs worn each day by each employee in a dangerous noise environment, over roughly 240 work days year - adds up to significant dollars. The life span of a pair of Insta-Mold and Chameleon Earplugs is 3-5 years (+). 100s if not thousands of pairs of foam earplugs, annually, vs. one pair of Insta-Mold or Chameleon Earplugs per employee for 3-5 years!!

A revolutionary design in filtered protection is the Custom-Fit Non-Electronic HearPlugz-DF Earplugs, which incorporate the softness, durability and flexibility of the Chameleon Ears, and the dual "Variable Attenuators" of the Generic HearPlugz-DF Earplugs worn by many of our troops in combat. This "dual" Variable Attenuator design consists of a primary filter and a "removable" secondary filter. It is a unique system in that "As sound levels increase, so does the sound suppression". The wearer can tune the level of filtering (attenuation) to their needs and requirements - i.e. full attenuation (NRR 22dB) where maximum hearing protection is demanded, while sacrificing some acceptable "situational awareness" and communications ability; and less attenuation (NRR 12dB) when the individual needs a greater degree of "situational awareness" and ability to communicate, while sacrificing some hearing attenuation. Even with this sacrifice, harmful noises/sounds are still being reduced to permissible levels. Tuning is simply removing or replacing the secondary filter. The HearPlugz-DF can be interfaced with a communications system by replacing the secondary filter with an acoustic cord (tubing) connected to a radio. We do not recommend the Generic HearPlugz-DF Earplugs for industry as they do not provide the same level of protection as the Insta-Mold and Chameleon Earplugs, nor are they as comfortable. Discomfort is due to the flange design. |

For those who want excellent noise reduction and music listening with great clarity and crispness, we suggest the Gen. II iPlugz Sports Monitors, with their high-end dual Knoles Speakers (bass and treble) embedded in each Chameleon earplug. Premier Safety Systems takes impressions of your ears, your selection of color for the earplugs and cord color (black or white), and in approximately 3 weeks you receive your iPlugz from E.A.R., Inc.
